26 April Lichfield Sprint Triathlon
This was the second time myself and brother Darren had been to this event. It was so good last year we thought we would return. BRAT – the organisers don’t disappoint; they really put on a good race for all standards of Triathlete with a lot of first timers taking part. And with what seems like effortless organisation, they put on a stress free event for those participating.
The 400m swim is set in the leisure centre and with a maximum of two to a lane you are unhindered in the first stage. T1 was a short jog round the leisure centre to pick up the bikes and off on an out and back 12 mile ride, which again was marshalled excellently, back to transition and off on a four lap 5k off road run.
I can recommend any one signing up for this race the next time it’s staged. It’s brilliant value for money, friendly efficient organisers and a nice scenic ride and run, perfect for an early season Triathlon.
Results: Mark Wood 1hour 17 minutes, Darren Wood 1 hour 19 minutes.
