Four NTC juniors headed down South on Friday night, for a day of high performance racing at Eton Dorney on Saturday. For juniors and youths the event was the next leg in the National Series and for TS3 & TS2 the races were the only opportunity to qualify for the West Midlands team.
Eden Schiller was first up in the Junior race, which was fast and furious. Exiting the water in about 6th Eden made the lead pack on the bike and was soon pushing the pace up front. The group stayed together and it was all to play for as she exited T2 after a fast transition. An equally strong run brought Eden home in 4th place, continuing a great string of results in the series.
Eammon Clowes and Lucy Donnelly were off next in the TS2 races. This level of racing was a new experience for both Eammon and Lucy as it was their first draft legal race with restricted gears on the bike and a whole load of other regulations that apply at this level. Both performed brilliantly holding their own mid pack throughout. Eammon finished 23rd and Lucy 18th. More importantly both were the third finishers for the West Midlands which secured selection for the West Midlands team.
Having brilliantly supported the other NTC juniors, Robin Schiller had to wait until a bit later in the day for her open TS2 race. In a very competitive field Robin performed well to finished a superb 11th to round of the NTC results.
The whole event was well organised and a great experience for the juniors.
