Eden Schiller had a great time attending the Regional Academy Triathlon Training Camp in Morzine, France, for the first two weeks of the summer holiday.
Completing daily rides of between 80 and 120km on the roads in the Alps was tough in itself for Eden before adding open water and 50m pool swim sessions, and not forgetting the odd run.
Teams from Belgium and Italy joined the West Midlands group for the camp. But Eden took it all in her stride and did really well posting fastest female youth times in the cycle hill time trial and end of week triathlon race.
On return Eden completed her first sprint distance sea triathlon off the Northumberland coast at Sun City Triathlon Club. Despite only being 14, she finished 17th overall out of 150 and 3rd in the overall female category, in 1 hour and 13 minutes.
A week later she moved to the athletics track for the Midlands U15 and U17 Athletics Championships in Nuneaton. U15 Girls 3,000m gold followed by 1,500m silver capped a very successful weekend.
Bank Holiday Monday brought the final Youth Super Series race at Mallory Park; also an extremely challenging 10.2km bike course. Eden was 9th on the day, and final placing in the 2017 Youth Super Series of 9th in her first year of Youth competition completed a busy triathlon Super Series for Eden.
On Saturday 9 September both Eden and younger sister Robyn were in action at the Absolute Junior Triathlon in Nottingham. Eden notched up another win, lapping every female athlete but one on the 400m swim, 9km bike and 3.5km run course. Robyn raced home in 15th, the youngest out of 51 TS2 girls.
