After a successful season swimming Harrison has been looking for a new challenge.
He has this year competed at the British Swimming Championships and Open Water Championships, along with being West Midlands Regional Championship at 400m, 800m, 1500m and 3km Open Water.
Harrison isn’t stopping swimming but wants to have a go at triathlon. In his second triathlon at East Leake Harrison came third. Now after moving to Danes swimming club in Congleton in October he is super motivated to kick on with his swimming and to add running and cycling to the weekly training.
Harrison attended two selection sessions, one at Warwick University where the athletes had to run a 1,500m time trial then swim a 200m TT. Harrison impressed in the swim with a 2.03 time.
Then after being picked for the second stage at Harvey Haddon Stadium in Nottingham he had to do a 200m swim bleep test, bike skills, a 5km bike time trial and a run set.
Harrison was the only athlete to complete the swim set and performed well on the bike and run.
This meant he has been selected as a member of the West Midlands Regional Triathlon Academy. So will have a number of squad sessions as he prepares for the 2019 Triathlon season.
We wish Harrison all the best swimming for Danes team, competing in his first Cheshire Counties and for a successful 2019 swim and triathlon season racing for Newcastle Tri. We also say a huge thank you to Julia and Fiona for their coaching support.
